UPLOADING YOUR WEBSITE

There are several ways to upload your website to your hosting account. We recommend using an FTPclient as this is usually the easiest way to upload as well as download files from your hosting account.
  • The first thing to do is to get an FTP client if you don't already have one. You can get one for free at http://filezilla-project.org/download.php (We will be using Filezilla for the purposes of this guide.)
  • Once you have downloaded and installed the FTP client, open the program.
  • At the top, there are textfields that you will need to fill in:
    • The first is Host. You will need to put ftp.yourdomain.tld (replace yourdomain.tld with your actual domain name)
    • The next textfield is Username. You will need to put in your username for your hosting account.
    • The next textfield is Password. Your hosting account password will go here.
    • The Port textfield can generally be left blank. But if you do have connection issues, try entering 21, or take off ftp when entering your domain name under Host.
    • Finally, click the Quickconnect at the top
  • Once connected, on the Local site window (left side), find the folder where you have your website stored.
  • Then on the Remote site window (right side), you are going to want to open the folder called public_html . This is where you will need to upload your webfiles.
  • Simply drag and drop the files and/or folders from the Local site side to the Remote folder side.

GETTING STARTED TOPICS:

Control Panel Login - Cpanel is your hosting account control panel. This is where you will setup your e-mail accounts, FTP accounts, access the Fantastico Deluxe application, and much more!

Changing Nameservers - Generally, when you change hosting companies, it will be necessary to change your domain name nameserver settings to reflect the change. It's like telling the post office you are moving and letting them know of your new address.

Transferring A Domain To Webhostingpad.com - A domain transfer is basically changing the company who is responsible for the registration and renewals for your domain name. By transferring a domain from one company to another it is like moving a gym membership from one gym to another gym. You still have a gym membership but now you are just paying your fees to a different facility.

Account Dashboard - The Account Dashboard is where you can update your credit card information, personal information, and have access to invoices for your hosting. In addition, there are special features and promotions that we offer that will improve your web hosting experience.
